The effective presentation of research or information on products and services plays an important part in academic or commercial success. Professional editing can therefore help to improve your business marketing material or maximise your chances of getting your work published.

As a copy-editor, my goal is to remove any errors, help make the text appealing and interesting, and achieve maximum clarity, without materially altering the writer's individual tone. I will edit the text to a consistent style, by either following or developing a 'house style', and work closely with you to make the document the best it can be, through making minor changes, rephrasing sentences or rewriting complete sections if necessary (in accordance with the CIEP Code of Practice, see www.ciep.uk/).

I bear the intended readership in mind when making suggestions for improvements, and if any queries arise to do with facts and safety/legal matters, I will point them out as sensitively as possible. Spelling, punctuation and grammar checks are naturally also part of this service.

I can work on Microsoft Word or Adobe pdf documents sent by e-mail (please virus-check all documents before sending them). I usually copy-edit texts on screen using Word’s 'Track Changes' facility. If you prefer, I can edit a printout and return it to you by post or courier (any printing charges will be included in the final fee).
